Caring for Your Raw & Virgin Hair

Raw and virgin hair is built to last through repeated wears when it's looked after properly. Follow this guide to keep every bundle soft, tangle-free and true to its texture for as long as possible.

Step 1

Washing

Brush through gently before every wash to remove tangles and product buildup. Wash under lukewarm — never hot — water, letting the water run down the length rather than piling hair on top of itself.

Use a sulphate-free, moisture-rich shampoo and work it through in one direction, from root to tip, without twisting, scrunching or rubbing at the wefts.

Step 2

Conditioning & Moisture

Deep condition once a week to keep the cuticle smooth and the strands soft. Apply conditioner from mid-length to ends only — keeping it away from the wefts keeps the stitching secure.

A lightweight leave-in or hair oil after washing locks in moisture and keeps frizz at bay between washes.

Step 3

Heat & Styling

Raw and virgin hair holds heat beautifully, but it still needs protecting. Always apply a heat protectant before styling and keep tools below 180°C (356°F) for straight and wavy textures, dropping lower for curls.

Limit heat styling to two or three times a week where you can, and let curls or waves air-dry fully before brushing through.

Step 4

Storage Between Wears

Wash and dry hair completely before putting it away — trapped moisture is the fastest way to shorten its life. Store bundles, wefts or units in a breathable silk or satin bag, coiled loosely rather than folded or knotted.

Keep them somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight.

Step 5

Nightly Routine

Brush gently before bed with a wide-tooth or loop brush, working from the ends up to the roots. Sleeping in a silk or satin bonnet, or on a silk pillowcase, cuts down on friction and tangling overnight and keeps the cuticle lying smooth.

Step 6

Professional Maintenance

If you're wearing a sew-in weave, book a professional move-up appointment every 6–8 weeks to keep it secure and the hair evenly distributed.

Avoid chlorine and saltwater without a protective cap — both strip moisture and can cause matting at the root.
